Heart Signal 4 is set in Shenzhen, where the city’s fast-paced lifestyle is a concentrated reflection of modern working professionals’ work and emotional states. The “Signal House” is no longer a detached villa far from the city center, but a large apartment in downtown Shenzhen, making the setting feel closer to real urban life. The show breaks the fixed rules of the first three seasons to create more freshness and surprises. It moves away from traditional casting and matching by deliberately creating an imbalanced ratio to add unexpected twists. It also introduces dating rules where someone can be rejected or end up left out, encouraging participants’ personalities to be shown more intensely. The program further fleshes out the participants’ preparations before dates and their reactions afterward, opening up more reality-show space based on the previous seasons. The Signal House also shifts its overall style—from a suburban villa to a downtown apartment, with a convenience store and subway right downstairs—making it feel more in line with Shenzhen’s urban vibe. Season 4 adds two major rule changes: first, there will be unexpected adjustments to the number of participants; second, a new “mini date” segment is introduced, where each participant has one chance during the season to secretly invite one person on a date. Unlike the big weekend dates of past seasons, mini dates are very everyday—more like having lunch together on a weekday.
