Netflix has confirmed the premiere date for The Boyfriend Season 2, bringing back Japan’s trailblazing male dating reality series with a brand-new setting and a fresh group of participants. The new season begins streaming January 13, 2026, rolling out 15 episodes across four consecutive weeks.
This time, the show’s familiar “Green Room” concept relocates to wintertime Hokkaido, shifting the atmosphere from seaside warmth to quiet, snow-covered scenery. Ten new queer men from diverse backgrounds will live together for roughly two months, building connections through daily life, honest conversations, and the small moments where romance and friendship start to blur.
Just like Season 1, the cast will also operate a coffee truck together, a setup designed to bring them closer as they navigate attraction, vulnerability, and the uncertainty that comes with opening up on camera. Netflix’s Tudum preview frames the season as a story of love and friendship unfolding in winter, with an emphasis on compassion and personal growth.
Helping guide viewers through the emotional ups and downs is the returning studio commentator lineup: MEGUMI, Chiaki Horan, Thelma Aoyama, Durian Lollobrigida, and Yoshimi Tokui.
Season 2 arrives after the series broke out in 2024, when Season 1 followed nine men living together, running a coffee truck, and forming once-in-a-lifetime connections that were not limited to romance. That wholesome, real-time approach became a signature of the show, and Netflix appears ready to deepen it with a colder backdrop and a new set of stories.
