Netflix Japan has locked in three romance-reality titles for late-2025 and 2026, unveiling the schedule during a 10th-anniversary reality showcase and follow-up posts on its official channels. The lineup confirms “ラヴ上等 — Badly in Love (Love Jōtō)” for December 2025, “ボーイフレンド (The Boyfriend) Season 2” for January 2026, and “あいの里 (Love Village) Season 3” for 2026.
“Badly in Love (Love Jōtō)” — December 2025
Produced by MEGUMI, Badly in Love (Love Jōtō) centers on Japan’s “yankee” (delinquent) subculture and is framed as a high-intensity “pure-love” reality show led by fiercely straightforward, emotionally honest participants. The concept was introduced at Next on Netflix 2025 and described as a “100% pure-hearted yankee” romance experiment that Netflix will stream exclusively worldwide in 2025.
Publicity materials have also used the English handle “Badly in Love” alongside the Japanese title — positioning the series as a raw, outsider-focused romance where loyalty to friends and hometowns collides with all-in love stakes.
“The Boyfriend” Season 2 — January 2026
Netflix’s male same-sex dating format returns with Season 2 in January 2026. The studio discussion panel (MCs) remains MEGUMI, Chiaki Horan, Thelma Aoyama, Dorian Lolo-Brigida, and Yoshimi Tokui, continuing the first season’s mix of commentary and reaction segments that helped fuel the show’s social conversation.
“Love Village” Season 3 — 2026
The mature-audience romance docu-variety Love Village will arrive sometime in 2026, again following singles (generally 35+) sharing life in a countryside farmhouse as they search for second-chance relationships. Atsushi Tamura and Becky will return as studio MCs.
